So angry that Trump says Montana's Jon Tester "should resign".
Trump said Jackson had a "beautiful record" and that there was no proof of the allegations and criticizing the top Democrat on a Senate panel who was investigation the allegations.
Asked whether Jackson will remain on the job as White House doctor, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, "Admiral Jackson is a doctor in the United States Navy assigned to the White House and is here at work today".
Jackson, the president's physician, swiftly withdrew his name from consideration for the cabinet position days after current and former colleagues accused him in a memo released by Senate Democrats of creating a hostile work environment, too freely dispensing prescription medication and drinking to excess, sometimes while on the job.
The records, including police reports, show Jackson was in three minor vehicle incidents in government vehicles during the last five years, but none involved the use of alcohol and he was not found to be at fault.
The Secret Service statement went on to say, "Rear Admiral Jackson, in his role as the official White House Physician, has provided years of dedicated support to the men and women of the Secret Service, often miles from home and under hard travel conditions, in order to ensure our personnel are healthy and prepared to execute our critical mission". Tester spokeswoman Marnee Banks told the AP the office would not comment until it knew more about the White House records.
On one such occasion, Jackson was preparing to board Air Force One to accompany then-President Barack Obama home from an overseas trip, according to one former White House official who witnessed Jackson's behavior.
White House officials say they are taking a new look at the way nominees' backgrounds are checked - and they believe they will persuade Trump to take additional time to ensure that a replacement is sufficiently vetted.
Tester will face one of several Republicans vying to face him in November, including former State Rep. Russell Fagg of Billings, businessman Troy Downing, State Sen.
Jackson withdrew his nomination on Thursday after the allegations were reported.
"I've had it happen to me with the Russian collusion hoax". Cosgrove recently retired as CEO of the Cleveland Clinic, an OH academic hospital, and has twice been considered for the VA secretary job, by Trump in 2016 and former President Barack Obama in 2014.
