Ozzie Newsome Announces The Ravens Have Signed Robert Griffin III

They announced on Wednesday the signing of former Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Griffin had been in recently, throwing passes to wide receivers the team was working out. He came in last week and worked out - had a real good workout.

The two sides came to a contract agreement on Tuesday and Griffin is expected to officially sign next week.

The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Currently, former undrafted free agent Josh Woodrum is the only quarterback on Baltimore's roster besides starter Joe Flacco. "He's a very talented quarterback", he said.

The following season Griffin was set back by a dislocated ankle and sustaining a concussion during the 2015 preseason. The following season coming back from injury Griffin's playmaking abilities fell tremendously. "We felt like we needed a No. 2 QB", Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. While he had an impressive rookie season, injuries limited his productivity the next few years.

"I felt like (Griffin) really wanted to be here". In fact, it's Robert Griffin III, who last played in the National Football League back in 2016 with the Cleveland Browns. The QB completed 72.5 percent of his passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, his best game of that season.

Griffin started seven games in 2014 before Washington handed the starting job over to Cousins on a full-time basis.

As it turns out, the Ravens were interested in Griffin past year as well. "I believe our players are going to love the fact that he's here; they like him as a person".
