Conte: Work the way to return

It is the first time in the history of La Roja that a father, son and grandfather have all represented the national team after the 27-year-old was included in Julen Lopetegui's squad for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and Argentina.

"There is only one way - to work hard and show you deserve to play".

Morata and Cahill were both left out of their respective global sides, after not featuring regularly for Chelsea in the league.

"Then there are two months for every player to show they deserve to go and play in the World Cup". Despite showing glimpses of brilliance at the beginning, the form faded away and injuries have added to the trouble as the Spaniard finds himself down the pecking order for the Blues, with manager Antonio Conte preferring to play Eden Hazard as the false nine.

Alonso has been one of the Premier League's best defenders since joining Chelsea from Fiorentina, however the presence of Jordi Alba means global experience has been hard to come by.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has said that sees Alvaro Morata returning to the Bernabeu as the striker is now struggling at Chelsea. "But now he is back, although it doesn't mean he has a spot guaranteed (for the World Cup)".

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso followed in the family tradition on Friday by becoming the third generation of his family to receive a call-up to the senior Spain national team.

He said: "The World Cup is not tomorrow".

"We are looking to get more information about players".

" Cahill and Morata being dropped?"

Having exited the Champions League in midweek, Conte is ready to put a greater emphasis on the FA Cup given it is the only trophy the champions can realistically win.

"We like (Rodri) a lot". Maybe, the manager wants to try new solutions.

Conte also shrugged off fears the likes of Eden Hazard could leave if Chelsea fail to qualify for the Champions League, saying: "Don't forget that two years ago Chelsea finished 10th".
