Greene, who has spent the last five years with UB and the last two as the school's AD, appears to be leaving the university to become the new Athletic Director at Auburn, according to 247Sports and multiple other media outlets.
Greene, who has served as Buffalo's AD since 2015, has made major strides for the school's athletic program, including raising funds for an $18 million indoor football practice facility. We will bring you the latest as soon as it becomes available.
Greene, 40, is one of the youngest active athletics directors in the NCAA. Aside from a four-year stint in development at Ole Miss ending in 2012, Greene has no professional experience in the South. Greene was selected by the New York Yankees in the 1998 MLB draft and played in its minor league system until March 2001.
Leath decided on Greene with the help of a six-person search committee - which was chaired by Board of Trustees member Gaines Lanier and also included Dufner, Kim Evans, Adrienne Lee, Beverly Marshall and Quentin Riggins - and Parker Executive Search in Atlanta.
Auburn has found its likely replacement for outgoing athletic director Jay Jacobs.
