Mueller Removed FBI Agent From Russia Probe Over Anti-Trump Messages

"I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI", Trump wrote. The New York Times and Washington Post report that the agent, Peter Strzok, as the FBI's deputy head of counterintelligence, played a major role in the investigations into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server as well as the possible links between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Mr Miller was responding to the part of Mr Trump's tweet in which he said he fired Mr Flynn in February because he "lied to the Vice-President and the FBI". "Yes, sir", the retired three star general and former military intelligence chief said when asked if he wanted to plead guilty. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful.

Like many of Trump's tweets, his intention wasn't 100 percent clear. "Are you ADMITTING you knew Flynn had lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation when you asked Comey to back off Flynn?" At a news conference just days after Flynn was let go, Trump said he ousted him because of "what he said to Mike Pence".

For one thing, Flynn's cooperation could shed light on another aspect of the Mueller investigation, the claim that Trump may have obstructed justice by firing then-FBI Director James Comey in May.

In what appeared to be moves undermining the policies of outgoing president Barack Obama, the pair discussed USA sanctions on Russian Federation, and Mr Flynn asked Mr Kislyak to help delay a United Nations vote seen as damaging to Israel, according to prosecutors.

Jan 20, 2017: Mr Trump takes office and Flynn becomes national security adviser. The key question now is what Flynn knows that could incriminate others and what he might have offered in exchange for such a lenient plea deal.

A former senior Trump administration official said Strzok was even-handed in all of his dealing with the Trump White House. In July, he tweeted, "While all agree the U. S. President has the complete power to pardon, why think of that when only crime so far is LEAKS against us".

According to that same memo, Trump specifically told Comey in that conversation that Flynn had done nothing wrong.

Mueller was appointed in May to lead the Justice Department's investigation into whether President Trump or any of his associates colluded with Russian during the 2016 White House race. "So we're very happy", he said.

Mr. Mueller's investigators have learned through witnesses and documents that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked the Trump transition team to lobby other countries to help Israel, according to two people briefed on the inquiry. He was removed from Mueller's team this summer, the reports indicated.
