Former Alabama S Landon Collins rips Giants' teammate, calls him 'a cancer'

The former Alabama All-American won't be in the Giants' starting lineup for the first time in his three National Football League seasons when NY closes its 2017 campaign against the Washington Redskins.

"We have suspended Eli for a pattern of behavior that is conduct detrimental to the team", Abrams said in a release. "That would be the only person I would change out of our secondary group".

"There's only just one corner that. needs to grow, and we all know who that is", Collins told fill-in host Bob Wischusen.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN sheds additional light on what is clearly a contentious relationship between the teammates and the weirdness is further illustrated by Apple receiving no defensive playing time in the team's Week 16 loss. Besides that, the other two guys, DRC (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie) and Jackrabbit (Janoris Jenkins), I love those two guys.

In a radio interview on Tuesday, Collins referred to Apple as a "cancer" to the Giants.

Apple has played in 11 games this season, starting seven of those, but only featured on special teams in last Sunday's 23-0 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals, with Brandon Dixon and Ross Cockerell selected ahead of Apple.

The feud between Collins and Apple took another turn Wednesday when, as the Giants were on the practice field in preparation for Sunday's season finale, Collins took to social media and issued an apology.

Heading into the predraft process in 2016, few doubted Apple's physical tools and raw talent, but there were concerns about his need for refinement, both as a player and in terms of maturity. They play hard. They love what they do.

"I apologized for the things I said yesterday", the Pro Bowl safety posted on Twitter. NY is in the process of interviewing general manager candidates following the firing of Jerry Reese and head coach Ben McAdoo on December 4.

The second-year cornerback practiced with the team earlier in the day and there seemed to be no indication that he'd be suspended.
