Alphabet ( GOOGL )'s Google unit is reportedly picking a fight with Apple ( AAPL ), Pandora ( P ) and Spotify with a new music streaming service days after squaring off with Amazon.com ( AMZN ). Warner Music Group, on the other hand, seems to have already agreed to the deals. Eventually, it makes sense for YouTube to launch a music subscription service to cater to the needs of the users.
The service will allow YouTube to compete better with Apple Music and Spotify. Google folded much of the staff for Google Play Music into YouTube earlier this year, and Cohen announced plans to create a new paid service.
"Music is such an incredible global connector, and with Amazon Music Unlimited we've been able to give listeners access to an extensive catalog with the added experience of using their own voice to hear music in so many ways with Alexa", Amazon Music VP Steve Boom said.
Apart from getting major labels on board, YouTube is also reaching out to artists seeking help to promote this new service. Moreover, YouTube is also in talks with Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group as well as Merlin.
Amazon Music Unlimited is a separate service that offers a wider selection than Prime Music.
Fire TV owners have reported that trying to watch YouTube clips now prompts an alert warning them that they will lose the functionality on 1 January. In the year 2011, Google has released Google Play Music app with free and subscription options.
As per the report, YouTube will have to overcome various hurdles in order to meet the March 2018 launch date of the music subscription service.

As this wasn't as successful among the users as its competitors, the company tried again with YouTube Music Key in 2014, which turned into YouTube Red in 2016. Though, you'll see a notice that the app will no longer work after the start of the new year.
