Miss SA Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters crowned Miss Universe

JAMAICA's Davina Bennett, Colombia's Laura Gonzalez, and South Africa's Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters have earned a spot in the Top 3 and the chance to be the next Miss Universe.

This year's Miss Universe was crowned in a grand ceremony at The AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

Demi recently earned her degree in Business Management from North West University.

It was gathered that ninety-two women from around the world participated in the decades-old competition.

Sarah Idan, the first Iraqi contestant since 1972, is also competing for the Miss Universe title. "I will do my best to show the real beauty of Cambodian women and the world will know more about our country".

"You feel so empowered because you are on a stage with 91 other women that are strong, that are independent, that have worked really hard", she said.

Nel-Peters is from the South African coastal community of Sedgefield in the Western Cape province.

The woman representing South Africa has won the Miss Universe crown.

Fans of the pageant submitted the questions that the final five contestants were asked during the competition.

Miss Philippines Rachel Peters was a crowd favorite, getting the loudest cheer from the audience, one that Harvey and co-host Ashley Graham noticed.
