Volvo says the vehicle should have a 90-mile range on electric power alone, but didn't give zero to 60 times or top speed.
In its "Pure" mode - running in rear-wheel drive and powered exclusively by the 218hp from a pair of torque vectoring electric motors - the 1 boasts a range of just over 90 miles, triple what a Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can achieve and the longest electric range of any hybrid vehicle.

The performance aspect of the Polestar 1, however, is not limited to the engine, as it features a new Öhlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension that allows the driver to change suspension settings from inside the vehicle for better ride or handling, depending on conditions.
Volvo has said that, beginning in 2019, all of its own new and redesigned models will be electric or hybrid. Polestar says it will be a mid-sized BEV, and will compete with models like the Tesla Model 3.
"Polestar 1 is the first auto to carry the Polestar on the bonnet". Unlike its Volvo siblings, however, the Polestar 1 uses carbon fiber for "a majority" of its body panels.

The Polestar 1 is scheduled to debut tomorrow in Shanghai.
The Polestar 1 will be produced in "lower volume", but the subsequent models will be "mass produced" and all will be sold online via a subscription model involving monthly payments.
The all-electric lineup will start production in 2019.
