Newton and McDonald County residents raised thousands of dollars at this years, Relay for Life. The American Cancer Society has won 47 Nobel Prize winning researches out of 207. 47.
The Brewster Relay joined Relays for Life in Mahopac and Patterson which are two of the more successful events nationwide. Her seven-year old daughter, Grace, is a survivor. Crews were also sent to cover Relay activities in Atlanta and in a California location.
Teams walk the track Friday evening at the 21st Annual Stutsman County Relay for Life. The ceremony is followed by the survivor lap, a lap for all cancer survivors and people now being affected by cancer.
At this year's event, the luminaria bags to honor those who have battled cancer were lined up in a single file down the center of Depot Street.
