Conor McGregor applies for Nevada boxing licence as Mayweather fight hype builds

The Hartlepool fight superstar has signed a four-year contract with the biggest name AND voice in the sport - Floyd Mayweather.

Times have changed. Now this money fight looks like a certainty to actually happen. About a year ago, when the diamond-encrusted panty night was merely a figment of combat sports nerd's imagination, you't get Mayweather at -2000 to McGregor's +900.

His proposed opponent, Floyd Mayweather, is no slouch in the hype department either, but it appears that McGregor is getting the best of the early rounds as the pair settle into what will doubt be a lengthy negotiation process. Dana White says they are now working to get Mayweather to sign off on the bout.

White said that McGregor has agreed to step in the ring with the undefeated Mayweather despite not having fought competitively in a boxing ring since he was a teenager.

As time went on and McGregor made serious commitments to a possible fight, the idea of the match began to excite more and more fans. "This is what the fight fans and MMA fans want to see".

This past December, McGregor's attorneys showed Bennett a video of the Irish champ boxing while attempting to gain a license.

The first, and most important part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on.

"This is a Liam Walsh and Gervonta Davis press conference, let's focus on these two competitors", Mayweather said. Congratulations to all parties involved. According to Fox Business, McGregor initially sought $100 million but Mayweather countered with an offer of $15 million plus some broadcasting revenue.

Speaking on behalf of Nevada, NSAC executive director Bob Bennett told MMA Junkie that McGregor vs. Mayweather would make for a 'great fight'. The list of those he has beaten includes just about every top fighter anywhere near his weight: Manny Pacquiao; Saúl Álvarez, known as Canelo; Miguel Cotto; Juan Manuel Marquez; Oscar De La Hoya.
